Ashlinn De Schonen, Lola Pedersen, May Darbyshire, & Verity Monroe present their work from a two-month residency in Lodève, France, around the construction of a wood fired kiln.
All artists involved share an affinity towards the re-upholstering of found objects, ecological systems, and inherited processes through lo-fi and DIY approaches. Each artist brings their own field of knowledge to the collaboration, with our focus shifting between the territorial organisation of land, investigative mineralogy, and experimental sculptural and building techniques. The residency is an investigation into the regions dictation on each stage of the ceramically-focused practice as it becomes the source of clay, glazes, and kiln materials, celebrating the unfolding of alternative routes to production.
